with testosterone replacement
What is TRT?

TRT, or testosterone replacement therapy, is a therapeutic approach designed to enhance testosterone levels and mitigate the symptoms associated with low testosterone.

The presence of low testosterone has a significant effect on a man’s overall health, their aging process and leads to andropause: decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction, fatigue, loss of muscle mass, increased body fat, insomnia, and poor concentration (mental fog).

DO YOU HAVE A TESTOSTERONE DEFICIENCY?

The best way to determine if you have low testosterone is to have your levels checked through blood work; however, every person is unique and testosterone levels are only part of their story.

Some of the most common symptoms of low T include:

Low Sex Drive

Difficulty in achieving or maintaining an erection

Lack of mental clarity and focus or concentration

Increased fatigue and low energy levels

Increased fat and loss of muscle mass

Depressed mood

Testosterone Replacement Therapy FAQ’S

Testosterone is a sex hormone that plays important roles in both men and women. In men, it regulates sex drive (libido), bone density, fat distribution, muscle mass, strength, and the production of red blood cells and sperm. In women, it regulates libido, bone density, muscle mass, cognitive function, mood and energy.

  • Testosterone decreases 1-2% a year starting around the age of 40
  • High body fat can affect hormone production
  • Studies have shown heavy alcohol consumption affects testicular function resulting in low testosterone levels
  • A diseased or injured testicle, pituitary, or hypothalamus can cause low testosterone production
  • Several medications can lower testosterone levels. To name a few: statins, anti-anxiety/depressants, opioids, beta-blockers and chemotherapy

The best way to determine if you have low testosterone is to have your levels checked through blood work

We will come to you and draw your blood or we will send you to the nearest LabCorp. We typically get the results back within 48 hours and we can use prior bloodwork if it is less than 3 months old.

The normal range of testosterone for men is 280 – 1100 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dl)

  • Restoring testosterone levels to a normal range by using TRT can improve many of the effects of hypogonadism
  • TRT has beneficial effects on mood, energy, sense of well-being, sexual function, lean body mass, muscle strength, bone mineral density, cognition and it lowers cardiovascular risk

As with any medical treatment, there are potential side effects associated with TRT. Some of the most common side effects include:

  • Sleep apnea
  • Impaired sperm production
  • Acne
  • High red blood cell count
  • Growth of breast tissue (gynecomastia)
  • Growth of pre-existing prostate cancer cells
  • Increased risk of breast cancer

You must be 18 or older to receive treatment. However, TRT isn’t appropriate for everyone. We will discuss your symptoms and review your medical history, as well as review bloodwork, to determine if you are a candidate for TRT

All medications and injection supplies will be shipped to your home.

The FDA has approved multiple delivery methods for administering TRT, which include:

  • Creams/gels
  • Patches
  • Injections
  • Implantable pellets

Each method has its advantages and disadvantages but we recommend weekly injections for the proven clinical effectiveness and convenience.

All treatment options will be discussed during your consultation.

Individual results will vary, but most people start feeling the effects of TRT in 3-4 weeks.

We provide unlimited follow ups as part of our treatment plans. Call or text to schedule a follow up and you will be contacted within 24 hours.

TRT is not a cure for low testosterone. Your testosterone levels will go back to pretreatment levels and your symptoms will return if you stop TRT. However, long term treatment is sustainable and safe with close monitoring and routine bloodwork from your healthcare provider.
